RunnerBuddy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the RunnerBuddy mobile application.

 

1. Information We Collect

 

Location Data

RunnerBuddy uses your device’s precise location during active running sessions to calculate performance metrics such as pace and distance. This data is processed locally on your device. Location data is not transmitted or shared with external servers or third parties.

 

Fitness Data

We derive fitness data (including pace, distance, and session duration) from your location. This data is used to enable core features of the app, such as tracking and voice-based feedback.

 

First Name (Optional)

You may choose to enter your first name in the app settings. This is used solely to personalize voice feedback during your runs.

 

2. Smart Coach Subscription

 

If you subscribe to the Smart Coach feature, the app may transmit limited fitness data (e.g., pace, distance) and, if provided, your first name to an external AI service to generate personalized, real-time motivational feedback.

 

Location data is never transmitted.

Data is used in real time only and not stored or linked to your identity long term. However, the external AI service may retain transmitted data for up to 30 days for operational and abuse monitoring purposes.

You can enable or disable Smart Coach at any time within the app settings.

 

3. How We Use Your Data

 

Your data is used for the following purposes:

 

- To calculate and display your running performance

- To provide voice-based coaching during sessions, if you use Smart Coach

- To personalize motivational messages, if you use Smart Coach

 

We do not use your data for advertising, tracking, or analytics.

 

4. Data Retention

 

We do not store your fitness or location data on our servers. All data is processed either on your device or transmitted temporarily to fulfill a real-time feature (such as Smart Coach) and discarded after use. The third-party AI service used for Smart Coach may retain data for up to 30 days.

 

5. Data Not Collected

 

RunnerBuddy does not collect or store:

 

- Contact information (e.g., name, email, phone number)

- Device identifiers

- HealthKit or medical records

- Advertising or marketing data

- Payment or financial information (all purchases are handled via the App Store)

6. Your Controls and Choices

- Location Services: You can revoke location access at any time via your device settings.

- Smart Coach: This feature is optional and can be enabled or disabled at your discretion.

- First Name: Entering a name is entirely optional and not required to use the app.
